For many villages in which we work access to vital health and water services is limited. We can and must help to alleviate these everyday struggles to make a significant difference to people’s lives and livelihoods. We must first address the pressing needs that cause poverty before communities can look towards establishing sustainable livelihoods.
Clinics
In partnership with Safari Club International (SCI) Foundation, FCF is involved in a project to equip two micro dispensaries with solar power for lighting and to power important technologies to offer testing and more effective treatment.
With the financial support of the SCI Foundation and logistical support from FCF the micro dispensaries in Uvinza and Mfereji are now equipped with solar systems to power lighting and a range of new equipment (including fridges for medication, binocular microscopes and more).
In addition, beds and mattresses provided to the dispensary will allow 24hr medical care to patients, new born babies and to those who have travelled from far away the opportunity of receiving treatment.
Such support provides basic healthcare to areas that were previously void of facilities. Many Tanzanians from neighboouring areas will now also have shorter distances to travel to receive basic medical treatment.
Boreholes and Shallow Wells
Many of the rural areas are very dry for much of the year and villagers have to travel long distances to access water, which is often of poor quality. FCF has the use of its own borehole drilling rig to drill boreholes at cost in suitable areas.
With the support of generous individual sponsors FCF has provided a reliable water source in many villages in and around the wildlife areas, and with ongoing support can continue to provide clean, accessible water to more villages in Tanzania.
